Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Friday reviewed the progress of major industrial investment projects in Odisha and directed concerned departments to ensure timely resolution of issues for their smooth and speedy implementation.

The review meeting, held at the conference room of Lok Seva Bhawan, focused on the progress of mega industrial investment hub projects, including those of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and the Adani Group.

The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Steel and Mines Department, Deoranjan Kumar Singh; Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, Hemant Sharma; Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Department, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee; Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department and Chairperson, IDCO, Usha Padhee; Additional Secretary, Energy, Electronics and IT Department, Vishal Kumar Dev, along with senior officials from various departments and agencies, including Finance, Energy, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Commerce and Transport, Water Resources, IDCO, Odisha Mining Corporation, IPICOL and TPCODL.

Senior representatives of NALCO and the Adani Group apprised the government of the progress of their ongoing projects, future investment plans and the support required from the state government.

During the review of NALCO projects, discussions were held on the brownfield expansion of its smelter and captive power plants and the Utkal ‘D’ and ‘E’ coal mines. Issues relating to land acquisition and transfer, rehabilitation and resettlement, public hearings, gram sabhas and ancillary infrastructure were also reviewed.

The meeting also examined the Adani Group’s ongoing and proposed investments in Odisha across sectors such as ports, industrial parks, energy, aluminium, cement, coal gasification, data centres, mining and logistics.

The proposed expansion of Dhamra and Gopalpur ports, development of industrial parks and economic corridors, and associated infrastructure were among the key issues discussed. Land acquisition, road and rail connectivity, coastal regulation-related clearances and other requirements were also taken up.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need for close coordination among departments, investors and district administrations to resolve bottlenecks and expedite project implementation.

“Timely implementation of large-scale industrial projects is crucial for the state’s industrial development, investment, employment generation and economic growth,” Garg said.

She directed officials to take timely and effective steps to address project-related issues and ensure that necessary government support is extended to investors.

District Magistrates of Anugola, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Sundaragada, Kataka and Bhadrak participated in the meeting virtually.
