Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The annual High School Certificate (HSC), Madhayama and State Open School Certificate (SOSC) examinations conducted by the Odisha State Board of Secondary Education (BSE) commenced on Friday morning under strict surveillance and supervision.
This year, a total of 5,41,247 students are appearing for the examination at 3,218 examination centers across the state. A total of 316 nodal centers have been set up for the security of the question papers.
In the Cuttack district alone, 28,854 students are appearing for the exams in 161 examination centers.
The examination has started amid tight security. The district and the police administrations are in charge of security. A three-way check system has been put in place to prevent cheating in the examinations.
Special squads have been formed to check malpractices and smooth conduct of the examinations.
Extensive police deployment has been made at various examination centers. All centers are under CCTV surveillance. Special squads are visiting the examination centers to monitor the examinations.
Keeping in view the heat wave, the exams started at 8.00 am and will continue till 10.00 am.
According to the BSE, students will be given 15 minutes extra time on the day of the mathematics exam. The students are allowed to enter the examination center an hour before the commencement of the examinations.
