Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the next of kin of Etawa Oram, a keyman with Indian Railways, who was killed in a Maoist-triggered IED blast along the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

The deadly explosion took place at around 10 am near Rengada while workers were carrying out maintenance on a railway track. The blast targeted the railway tracks, critically injuring Oram, who later succumbed to his injuries. Another railway employee, Budharam Munda, was seriously injured and admitted to Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela.

The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to Oram’s family.

“Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the death of railway keyman Etawa Oram and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to support the bereaved family,” the Chief Minister’s Office stated in a post on social media platform X.
