Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday distributed district-wise responsibilities among members of the Council of Ministers to strengthen relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas of the state.

The decision was taken after the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the flood-hit regions to assess the extent of damage and the ongoing response measures. Following the review, Majhi directed ministers to remain in close coordination with district administrations and monitor rescue, relief and rehabilitation activities on the ground.

According to the allocation made by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has been entrusted with supervising operations in Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts, while Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida will oversee relief efforts in Baleshwar, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has been assigned responsibility for Puri district, and Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabinarayan Naik will monitor the situation in Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts.

The state government said other ministers would also visit their respective districts in their capacity as in-charge ministers to review the implementation of relief measures and ensure prompt assistance to affected people.

The move is aimed at strengthening coordination between the government and local administrations as Odisha continues to tackle the impact of floods triggered by heavy rainfall and rising river levels in several districts.
