Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday launched 133 new Mobile Veterinary vehicles to provide healthcare services to livestock in the State.
The Mobile Veterinary vehicles were launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik under the ‘Mukhyamantri Bhramyaman Pranichikitsa Seva’ programme at a function organised by the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department at Kalinga Stadium here.
Livestock has always been a major contributor to the economy of the state and the country. Animal husbandry plays an important role in the income generation of farmers. The State Government is committed to increasing the income of the farmers and improving their standard of living and is making continuous efforts in this direction.
The livestock sector has been identified as an area of growth for small and marginal farmers, women self-help groups and entrepreneurs.
The State government has taken several important steps to protect livestock and provide them with proper medical care.
Along with this, as a commitment of the state government towards the welfare of animals, Mukhyamantri Bhramyaman Pranichikitsa Seva programme has been introduced. Through this, mobile veterinary units can reach sick animals and provide veterinary treatment in areas where there are no veterinary facilities.
The Mukhyamantri Bhramyaman Pranichikitsa Seva programme is becoming very useful in providing emergency healthcare services to sick animals. Earlier these mobile units were operating through hired vehicles. In the first phase, 181 mobile veterinary units at a cost of Rs 30 crore were inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on September 8.
Another 133 new Mobile Veterinary vehicles were launched by the Chief Minister at a cost of Rs 21.28 crore.
As a result, veterinary services have reached the doorsteps of people. This mobile unit also has surgery facilities. Through this, animal vaccination and diagnostic services have also been made available and wide public awareness has been created among the farmers. According to the pre-arranged program, this mobile unit goes to various villages of the block and provides veterinary services.

Along with this, 6 Mukhyamantri Prani Ambulance Seva vehicles have also been deployed in the city today so that sick and injured cattle and animals can be provided immediate medical care.
Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Ranendra Pratap Swain, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Suresh Kumar Vashishth and others were present at the event.
