Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the location accessible multimodal initiative (LAccMI) Bus Scheme in Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal districts through video conferencing.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “My government is the government of the people. Odisha government prepares plans by respecting the wishes of the people.”
“After the 5T Chairman and Chief Minister’s district visits, we felt the problems of the people and following the suggestions of the people, LAccMI Bus Scheme was prepared to solve the communication problem of the people of the village,” the Chief Minister said.
It is worth noting that this scheme was first started in Malkangiri. In the first phase, residents of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati and Koraput districts got LAccMI bus service. In the second phase, three more districts were added. Today five more districts namely Balangir, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh have been included in the LAccMI Bus Scheme. So far, 14 districts have been included.
After today’s launch, 301 buses started plying in 1,340 panchayats of five districts. More than 83,00,000 people will be benefited by this. As many as 44 buses plied in 313 panchayats of Balangir and 16.50 lakh people will be benefited. Similarly, 60 buses plied in 243 panchayats of Bargarh and 14.22 lakh people will be benefited. Besides, 25 buses plied in 158 panchayats of Bhadrak and 10.80 lakh people will be benefited. Further, 107 buses plied in 386 panchayats of Mayurbhanj benefiting 24.20 lakh people. Moreover, 65 buses plied in 240 panchayats of Sundargarh and 17.20 lakh people will be benefited.
Under this scheme, bus service from Panchayat to Block has been facilitated. More than 1000 buses will ply across the state. Mission Shakti members have been entrusted with the responsibility of management of these buses under this scheme which has been launched under the 5T initiative.
The Chief Minister said that the LAccMI Bus has made our lives easier. He said that it would play an important role in strengthening the economy of the village.
“We aim to make Panchayat the centre of development. We aim to strengthen the economy of the village, he said. He added that the LAccMI Bus will play an important role in it.
Mentioning the recently launched Sri Jagannath Express Bus Service under this scheme, the Chief Minister said that Sri Jagannath Express Bus Service has been started for the darshan of Mahaprabhu Sri Jagannath and to experience Sri Mandir Parikrama project. The ticket price for women in these buses has been halved. LAccMI Bus Scheme has made our lives easier, he added.
The ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ program is underway for the transformation of the villages, the Chief Minister informed and sought everyone’s cooperation to build a new Odisha.
He said that people in rural areas faced many problems in transportation. Upon knowing about it during the visit of the Chief Minister’s office to the districts, a decision was taken to launch the LAccMI Bus Scheme. People in rural areas can use this bus from their homes for their daily work with convenience at a low cost.
Throwing light on the LAccMI Bus service, the Chief Minister said, “ LAccMI Bus will connect people with people. It will strengthen social and economic life. Take children to schools and colleges. Will connect farmers to markets.” He said that women and students can travel on this bus by paying only 5 rupees.
Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu who was present in Balangir, Labour Minister Sarada Prasad Nayak who was present in Sundargarh, School & Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi who was present in Mayurbhanj and Women Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram said that there was a time when women were neglected in the society. Today, the Chief Minister has given priority to women in all fields, they added. They said that the Chief Minister has launched this LAccMI Bus Scheme after studying the financial situation of rural families. Good roads are built in rural areas, they added.
They said that due to the foresight of the Chief Minister, today the people of the villages are enjoying the benefits of the city. “LAccMI Bus Scheme has improved the life of rural people. At the national level today, the Chief Minister has been represented as the number one Chief Minister,” they said.
They opined that the trust of the people of Odisha in the government has increased.
Addressing the people of Bargarh during the program 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman V Kartik Pandian said that on the 20th of this month, the much-awaited Gangadhar Meher Irrigation Project and Cancer Hospital will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Similarly, he told the people of Mayurbhanj district that the development work of the birthplace of Pandit Raghunath Murmu is going on and all the tourist places in Mayurbhanj district will be developed. The Chief Minister has sanctioned funds for the conversion of Vedavyas Peeth in Sundargarh district along with the transformation of various temples and churches. He told the people of Keonjhar district that women had requested to increase the pension amount under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana. Respecting your request, the Chief Minister has increased the pension amount under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana, he added. He said that the Chief Minister will soon make arrangements for Rs 5 lakh loan for Mission Shakti members. He said, “LAccMI Bus is the property of the people of Odisha. It is your property. Please take proper care of it.”
Principal Secretary of Commerce & Transport Usha Padhi, delivered the welcome speech in the program. A large number of people gathered in all the districts.
