Odisha CM Sanctions Rs 2 Cr For Beautification Of Gangadhar Meher Smriti Peeth At Barpali

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today sanctioned Rs 2 crore for the transformation of Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher Smruti Peeth at Barpali.

It is worth mentioning here that under direction of the Chief Minister 5T Secretary VK Pandian during his visit to Bargarh on June 26 and 27 had reviewed various developmental programmes and heard the grievances of the general public.

Similarly, on June 26 Pandian visited Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher’s birthplace and offered tributes to him in Barpali and discussed with the committee members about the development of the birthplace memorial.

Gangadhar Meher contributed immensely to Odia literature and language. His birthplace is like a place of pilgrimage for literature lovers and common people.

The Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 2 crore for the all-round development and beautification of this historical place and to make it a research centre of Odia literature

Kabi Bhawan, Smriti Bhawan and Gangadhar Meher Park will be constructed on the premises of the memorial, which is expected to draw lakhs of visitors every year.
