Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday asked the state Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marndi to visit the rail accident site in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district to help in the rescue operations.
Incidentally, 13 passengers were killed and several injured after the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special train hit Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger from the rear on Sunday evening.
“The Chief Minister today directed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marandi to visit yesterday’s train accident site in Andhra Pradesh and also meet the injured at the hospital. Additional Special Relief Commissioner is also accompanying the minister,” a press release issued by the CMO read.
Meanwhile, the state Fire and Emergency Service has dispatched a team and materials to the accident site under the leadership of AFO Jeypore. The team has been equipped with the plasma cutter, combo tools, a rescue line, IT lights, and others.
