Bhubaneswar : As many as 95 per cent of complaints received through the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell have been resolved, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Monday while presiding over the 16th session of the public grievance hearing programme at the CM’s Grievance Cell in Unit-II, Bhubaneswar.

Official data shared at the hearing revealed that 12,748 out of 13,358 complaints received during the last 15 sessions have already been disposed of, while the remaining cases are currently under process. The Chief Minister described the resolution rate as a reflection of the government’s commitment to responsive and people-centric governance.

The Chief Minister reached the grievance cell at around 10 am and, as per established practice, first met 30 differently-abled persons and chronically ill patients who had been waiting outside since morning. After personally listening to their grievances and receiving their petitions, he directed officials to take immediate and necessary action. He later proceeded to hear the grievances of registered complainants inside the cell.

Through the single-window system, the Chief Minister approved medical assistance funds for three patients suffering from complex ailments—Papun Maharana of Keonjhar district, Priyabrata Pradhan of Khordha district and Deeptimayee Dash of Cuttack district.

Highlighting the impact of the grievance hearing mechanism, officials noted that complaints are being submitted both individually and in groups, with each petition often accompanied by two to ten people. From this perspective, more than 56,000 people have so far visited the grievance cell in person to present their problems before the government.

In addition to the grievance cell hearings, the government has also recorded significant progress through other platforms. Out of 1,49,418 complaints received through the Janasunani portal, post and other channels, 1,30,845 complaints—around 88 per cent—have been resolved, according to official figures.

Briefing the media after the session, Chief Minister Majhi said the government is according the highest priority to grievance redressal and ensuring timely action. He said the grievance hearing cell has helped resolve long-pending issues of people from different parts of the state, enabling common citizens to receive justice directly from the administration. “Public trust and participation in the grievance hearing programme have increased because people are seeing results,” he said, adding that the programme would continue at regular intervals in the coming days.

Seven senior ministers were present alongside the Chief Minister, including Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari; School and Mass Education and ST & SC Development Minister Nityananda Gond; Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Nayak; Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling; Higher Education, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj; Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain; and Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia.

Development Commissioner Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretaries Surendra Kumar and Hemant Sharma, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Saswat Mishra, and other senior officials assisted in the proceedings.
