Odisha College’s Fake Valentine Day Notice Asking Girls To Have Boyfriends Goes Viral

Jagatsinghpur: A notice allegedly issued by the principal of the SVM Autonomous College in Jagatsinghpur in Odisha has gone viral. The bizarre notice states that girl students who do not have a boyfriend will not be allowed entry to the college, especially on February 14!

The notice issued on January 20 reads, “It is mandatory for all girls to have at least one boyfriend by 14th February. This has been done for security purposes. Single girls will not be allowed to enter college premises.”

The notice also adds that it is mandatory for the girl students of the college to show a recently clicked photograph with their boyfriend as the entire exercise would help ‘in spreading love’.

Stating that the notice is bizarre, a college student wrote on social media, “We have seen the notice. It seems to be a fake one and is the work of some mischievous elements to malign the reputation of our college and demean the principal.”

Incidentally, doubts about the authenticity of the notice rises from the fact that the notice does not bear an official letter number, college address, or contact number on the letterhead.

Meanwhile, Bijay Patra, principal of the SVM Autonomous College, has said that he did not issue any such notice. Patra has already lodged a complaint with the police on Monday. He told the media on Monday, “My scanned signature is being misused with the intention to tarnish my image and the reputation of the college. I have already filed a police complaint in this connection demanding punishment for the culprits.”

Jagatsinghpur police station IIC Subhranshu Parida informed that they have registered a case in this connection and an investigation is underway.
