Bhubaneswar: A one-day district-level workshop on the Lakhpati Didi Initiative was conducted across Odisha today under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida. The workshop aimed to intensify livelihood activities through convergence and sensitize stakeholders about their roles and responsibilities.

The event saw the participation of 4,000 attendees, including steering committee members, community support staff, successful Lakhpati Didis, community influencers, and officials from various line departments.

In her video message, Deputy CM Parida greeted the participants and highlighted the state government’s efforts to strengthen the Lakhpati Didi Initiative. She announced the launch of the “Lakhpati Didi Sahayika Yojana,” under which Community Support Staff (CSS) will play a pivotal role in creating more Lakhpati Didis. Emphasizing the importance of CSS in driving the initiative at the household level, Parida stressed the need for capacity building and enhanced understanding to amplify the program’s impact.

To date, over 8 lakh Lakhpati Didis have been created in Odisha, with 1.66 lakh hailing from aspirational and tribal districts. To achieve the target for 2024-25, onsite training for Potential Lakhpati Didis (PLDs) and the preparation of Business Development Plans (BDPs) are underway across the state. So far, 16.44 lakh PLDs have been trained, and 11 lakh BDPs have been prepared.

For the effective implementation of the initiative, state and district-level steering committees have been formed. Additionally, over 22,000 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) have been trained to provide hands-on support to CSS in mobilizing efforts to create more Lakhpati Didis.
