Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Crime wing of Odisha Crime Branch arrested a group of eight cyber fraudsters from New Delhi, Fatehpur & Mau in UP. They were cheating innocent people in the name of Insurance Policy and Loan.
The Cyber police also seized Rs 9,30,800 cash, four gold rings, four earrings, four nose pin, four pairs of silver anklet, 10 pairs of silver toe ring, 21 Debit cards, nine credit cards, one laptop, 17 Mobile phones, 22 SIM cards, one SD card.
Based on the complaint of Dillip Kumar Jalan, a resident of Bhubaneswar that he and his wife had become victims of insurance fraud to the tune of Rs 76,15,955, the Crime Branch had registered a case under sections u/s 419/ 420/ 465/ 467/ 471/ 120-B/ 34 IPC r.w. 66-C/ 66-D of IT Act.
After collection of the necessary information and digital evidence, the cyber police team knew that the accused persons were residing outside Odisha. Three teams of Cyber Crime Unit, CID CB proceeded to New Delhi, Fatehpur & Mau in UP and arrested them.
The arrested accused persons are—
- Raghu Anand (31) of Faridabad, Hariyana presently running Call Centre at a rented house in Badarpur Delhi.
- Bhim (33) of Faridabad, Haryana.
- Rupali Gupta (26) of Jeevan Nagar, New Delhi
- Pramoda Valli (66) of Sarita Vihar in New Delhi
- Yogendra Singh of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh.
- Bhanu Pratap Yadav (47) of Mau (Uttar Pradesh).
- Ashish Kumar (24) of Mau, Uttar Pradesh.
- Tej Kumar (60) of Mau, Uttar Pradesh.
