Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit of Weightrack India Private Limited at Infovalley-II in Khordha, marking a significant addition to the state’s growing industrial ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride that the company, founded by an Odia entrepreneur, has emerged as one of India’s leading players in smart infrastructure and artificial intelligence-enabled solutions. He noted that the firm has grown to become the country’s fourth-largest weighbridge manufacturer and congratulated its team for the achievement.
Majhi said Odisha is witnessing an “industrial revolution” under the present government, with a shift from mining-centric industries to emerging “New Economy” sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, textiles and pharmaceuticals. He stated that projects worth around ₹2.80 lakh crore have been grounded so far, with the potential to generate over two lakh jobs.
Highlighting long-term economic goals, he said the state aims to become a $500 billion economy by 2036 and scale up to $1500 billion by 2047.
The Chief Minister credited Narendra Modi’s ‘Purvodaya’ vision for accelerating development in Odisha and said the government is facilitating industrial growth through ‘plug and play’ infrastructure and by empowering district collectors with greater decision-making authority.
Touching upon women’s political empowerment, Majhi criticised the opposition for not allowing the passage of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ in Parliament, describing it as detrimental to women’s representation.
Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik said micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of the Indian economy and appreciated the state government’s efforts in easing access to land and credit for entrepreneurs.
Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta said Odisha has emerged as a leading state in MSME development due to proactive policy support.
Weightrack’s Managing Director Pradeep Kumar Nayak was among those present at the event.
