Bhubaneswar: In preparation for the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) to be hosted in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10, 2025, the Odisha government has assigned special responsibilities to 50 Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers.
According to an order issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, these officers will serve as Liaison Officers under the Industries Department for the 18th edition of PBD, a flagship event celebrating the contributions of the Indian diaspora. The officers are required to report to the Principal Secretary of the Industries Department on January 5.

The mega event, which will be held at Janata Maidan, is expected to attract over 5,000 delegates from across the globe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, providing an opportunity to connect with overseas Indians and foster collaboration in nation-building. President Droupadi Murmu, an Odisha native, will grace the closing ceremony.
To accommodate the influx of visitors, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has requested the state government to ensure the availability of at least 4,500 hotel rooms. Preparations are in full swing as Odisha aims to showcase its hospitality and make the event a resounding success.
