Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania today handed over a cheque for Rs 1 crore to the family of Constable Labani Ganta, who tragically lost her life in an accident while on duty. The insurance amount, provided by the State Bank of India (SBI), is part of an accidental death insurance policy.
Labani Ganta, who was serving at the Reserve Office in Rayagada district, tragically lost her life in an accident near Therubali on July 5 while performing her duties. Her father, Brundaban Ganta, received a cheque from the DGP in the presence of senior police officials and representatives from the State Bank of India at the State Police Headquarters.
Expressing his condolences, DGP Khurania appreciated the prompt disbursal of the insurance amount by SBI officials.
The event was attended by Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Prateek Mohanty, SBI Chief General Manager Ratna Teja Dinakara Akella, SBI General Manager Kaushal Kishore, Deputy General Manager Ashish Kumar Mishra, Assistant General Managers Uttar Kumar Patel and Nagendra Sahu, and Regional Manager Manoj Kumar Pradhan.
This insurance assistance is provided under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed earlier between Odisha Police and SBI, ensuring financial aid of Rs 1 crore in case of accidental death of police personnel.
