Bhubaneswar: Security arrangements are being strengthened in Mayurbhanj district ahead of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this month.
As part of the preparations, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania visited Mayurbhanj and reviewed the security measures put in place to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the high-profile programme.
Senior police and administrative officials briefed the DGP on the security deployment, traffic management, crowd control and other logistical arrangements being made for the visit.
President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are scheduled to attend the Odisha Government’s second anniversary celebrations at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district on June 20.
The police are coordinating with various security agencies to ensure foolproof arrangements for the event, which is expected to witness the participation of a large number of people.
The review assumes significance as the visit involves the country’s top constitutional functionary and the Prime Minister, requiring extensive security planning and coordination among multiple agencies.
Further details regarding the programme and security deployment are expected to be announced in the coming days.
