Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several Odisha districts, predicting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in the next five days.
Here’s a breakdown of the forecast:
Day 1 (May 20-21): Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms is likely in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh.
Thunderstorms with lightning and 30-40 kmph winds are expected in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, and Keonjhar.
Hot and humid conditions are likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati
Day 2 (May 21-22): Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms is expected in South Odisha and North Odisha.
Thunderstorms with lightning and 30-40 kmph winds are likely in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj
Day 3 (May 23): Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected in South Odisha and North Odisha.
Thunderstorms with lightning and 40-50 kmph winds are likely in several districts, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Day 4 (May 24): Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Day 5 (May 25): Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
