Bhubaneswar: Malkangiri district bore the brunt of the rain in Odisha in the last 24 hours, with Chitrakonda recording the highest rainfall in the state.
According to the Meteorological Centre of Bhubaneswar data, Chitrakonda recorded 192.0 mm of rainfall, followed by Malkanagiri town at 142.8 mm, Dabugaon in Nabarangpur at 135.2 mm, and Korukunda in Malkangiri at 134.0 mm.
Other heavy spells were recorded at Sukinda in Jajpur (87.0 mm), Mathili in Malkangiri (85.0 mm), Umerkote in Nabarangpur (84.0 mm), Golamunda in Kalahandi (81.0 mm), Nawapara in Nuapada (79.0 mm) and Nuagada in Gajapati (78.4 mm).
As per IMD data, four stations recorded very heavy rainfall and 12 stations recorded heavy rainfall during the period. The state as a whole recorded a district average rainfall of 25.9 mm against a normal of 9.8 mm, a departure of +163%, indicating Large Excess rainfall.
