Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday extended the deadline for the submission of undergraduate (UG) admission applications for the 2026–27 academic session, giving students six additional days to complete the process through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal.
The Higher Education Department said that aspirants can now submit their Common Application Forms (CAF) until June 16. The first merit list for UG admissions will be published on June 22, paving the way for the commencement of classes by July 10.
The admission process will be conducted in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, under which students will have the flexibility to choose their preferred major and minor subjects while filling out the application form.
The department has also opened admissions for Apprenticeship-Embedded Degree Programmes through the SAMS portal, enabling students to opt for courses that combine academic learning with industry exposure.
The extension is expected to benefit thousands of students who have yet to complete their applications due to various reasons, including documentation and subject-selection issues.
With the revised schedule in place, the Higher Education Department aims to complete the admission process in a time-bound manner and begin the new academic session by July 10.
