Bhubaneswar: As part of Emergency Services, Fire Stations personnel are actively engaged towards rescue of human beings and cattle falling into the wells accidentally. In this year, total 3,284 rescue calls have been received in various districts.
The maximum calls were from Dhenkanal District (467), followed by Khordha Sub Divison (360). Jajpur District (284), Angul District (185), Baripada and Udala Sub Divison (181), Balangir District (181), Ganjan District (155). Nayagarh District (150), Athagarh and Banki Sub Division (148) also received a lot of rescue calls.
Bhubaneswar Sub Division received 113 calls while Cuttack Sub Division got 101 rescue calls. Fire Stations personnel have saved total 162 lives of human beings and rescued total 2841 cattle.
A senior official of OFS said, “Reasons for such accidental falling are attributed to existence of open well without raised embankments. To save precious lives of human beings as well as cattle, it is urged that concerned house owners should raise embankments with covered lids, if possible.”
