Bhubaneswar: In a significant development in the ongoing high-profile fraud case in Odisha, Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty, the accused duo, were remanded on Thursday for further interrogation to extract additional details about their involvement in the case.
According to reports, a joint raid was conducted by the Twin City Commissionerate Police and officials from the Income Tax Department (I-T) at properties owned by Hansita.
The authorities discovered that Hansita owns three luxury flats in the upscale Z1 Apartments. During the raid, several crucial documents were seized and sent for examination to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).
In addition to the flats, officers uncovered four other properties and five luxury vehicles registered under the names of Hansita, her husband Saroj Kumar Sahoo, and Anil Mohanty.
Investigations revealed that Hansita, the wife of Saroj Kumar Sahoo, allegedly orchestrated a fraudulent scheme, presenting herself as an associate of prominent politicians and bureaucrats in Odisha to deceive victims. Anil Mohanty is believed to have managed her wealth during this period.
The Commissionerate Police have indicated that Hansita and Anil may be remanded again if further interrogation is necessary as the investigation progresses.
