Berhampur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually flagged off two Vande Bharat trains for Odisha. On the occasion, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi was present at Berhampur station during the flagging of the Berhampur-Tata Vande Bharat Express which silk city Brahmapur to Steel city Tata.
The train will cover the 9-hour, 5-minute journey with limited stoppages.
Lauding Prime Minister Modi’s vision, CM Majhi stated that India has become a leader in infrastructure development, with 140 crore people marching towards a developed India. He highlighted Berhampur’s significance as a prosperous city famous for its silk sarees and commercial centre.
He said that the Vande Bharat Express will boost tourism and trade in the region. Three similar trains are already operational in the state, with three more flagged off today.
The Central government has announced eight other trains with an outlay of Rs 20,000 crore in the recent budget, Majhi said.
Majhi acknowledged PM Modi’s commitment to Odisha’s development, with Rs 1 lakh crore allocated for railway infrastructure and over Rs 70,000 crore worth of projects approved. These initiatives will enhance the state’s railway network efficiency.
The Berhampur-Tata Vande Bharat Express marks a significant milestone in Odisha’s growth, symbolizing PM Modi’s dedication to the state’s progress.
Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat Express was also launched. With these two trains, number of Vande Bharat trains passing through Odisha reached five.
