Odisha Governor Reviews CSIR-IMMT Research, Technology Development Initiatives

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday visited the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) here and reviewed the institute’s ongoing research, technology development and demonstration initiatives in the minerals and materials sector.

During the visit, the Governor inspected the PGIM pilot plant, mineral processing pilot plant, Sustainable Recycling Centre and the technology demonstration plant for recovery of four metals from deep-sea polymetallic nodules.

Senior management officials and scientists of CSIR-IMMT briefed Kambhampati on the institute’s research and technology development activities, including technologies for processing deep-sea polymetallic nodules, sustainable recycling and recovery of valuable metals.

Dr Bipin Kumar, member of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and CSIR-IMMT Director Dr Ramanujam Narayan were present during the visit.

The Governor appreciated the institute’s efforts towards indigenous technology development and sustainable solutions in the minerals and materials sector. He congratulated the scientists, researchers and officials for their innovative work and contributions to areas of national priority.

Kambhampati also congratulated CSIR-IMMT for developing the country’s first indigenous pilot plant for processing bituminous coal fly ash and recovering value-added products at NALCO’s Research and Technology Centre (NRTC) in Bhubaneswar.
