Bhubaneswar: The Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, has revoked the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Utkal University, Professor Jagneshwar Dandapat.
The decision was communicated to the Odisha High Court by the Advocate General on July 22.
The appointment of the VC was challenged in court, with allegations of illegality.
Based on a petition filed by advocate Prabir Das, the Chancellor of Odisha has cancelled the appointment of Dandapat as the VC of Utkal University.
According to sources, the appointment was challenged in court for allegedly violating the Odisha University Act, 1989. A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed by advocate Prabir Das, questioning the appointment.
