Bhubaneswar: In a significant boost to Odisha’s healthcare infrastructure, the state government has sanctioned 4,433 new posts of Nursing Officer under the Odisha Nursing Service Cadre, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced today.

Mahaling said the creation of these posts follows the necessary administrative and financial approvals. The newly appointed personnel will serve as Community Health Officers (CHOs) at Ayushman Arogya Mandir sub-health centres across the state, strengthening last-mile healthcare delivery.

According to the Minister, the move is expected to bring greater accountability and a more streamlined approach to patient care and nursing management. He emphasised that the expansion will enhance the quality of nursing services in government-run health institutions.

The Finance Department has already cleared the proposal, paving the way for recruitment. The Health and Family Welfare Department is set to issue a detailed notification soon regarding the recruitment examination, training protocols, and posting procedures for the new Nursing Officer positions.
