Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today directed all Hospital authorities across State to remain alert and take proactive measures to combat any surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.
In a letter to all CDMOs, Medical Colleges and Capital Hospital authorities, State Health Department directed to increase ILI/SARI surveillance and make testing available in all health centres across the State.
For those found positive, the home isolation protocol should to be strictly followed and necessary treatment support is provided, the letter read.
The department also asked the hospital authorities to ensure dedicated beds and oxygen supported beds for any admission and management as per the management protocol. The hospitals have also been directed to refrain from any unnecessary referrals.
Under no circumstance report should not come about the non-availability of testing and treatment facilities at the district and sub-district level, the department stated.
The health institutions have been asked to coordinate and collaborate with district administration for increasing IEC/BCC for community awareness emphasizing COVID-I9 appropriate behavior to be followed by symptomatic, elderly and vulnerable population.
The hospitals have asked to ensure adequate availability of test KIT, reagents drugs, and consumables to deal with the COVID situation in coordination with OSMCL, Odisha.
The government also stressed on the training and capacity building of Health care providers and Laboratory personnel. The hospital authorities have been ordered to keep a contingency plan ready to deal with any situation.
