Bhubaneswar: All the government institutions will remain closed after 1 pm on June 12 (Wednesday) owing to the swearing-in ceremony of the new Odisha Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers.
Going by a notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the order will apply to all state government offices and revenue and magisterial courts (executive) coming under the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
“All the state government offices as well as Revenue and Magisterial Courts (Executives) within the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will remain closed for half day from 1 pm onwards on June 12 (Wednesday) in view of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister and council of Ministers, read the notification.
The swearing-in ceremony of the first BJP government in Odisha was scheduled to be held on June 10. It has been deferred to June 12.
Meanwhile, the state wing of the saffron party urged people to observe June 12 as Diwali by lighting at least two diyas (lamps) – one for the central government and another for the state government.
