Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to honour retired teachers across the state for their dedicated service and contribution to the field of education on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on September 5.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, N Tirumala Nayak, in an official communication to all District Education Officers-cum-District Project Coordinators, directed schools to observe Teachers’ Day and felicitate retired teachers from nearby areas at the school level.
Headmasters and headmistresses of all schools have been asked to invite retired male and female teachers from their respective localities and organise the felicitation programme on September 5.
The department has also directed schools to prepare a schedule of activities for the successful implementation of the programme.
Details of the programmes conducted in schools across each district, along with photographs and published newspaper reports, have been sought by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) at the earliest.
The initiative is aimed at recognising the contribution and dedicated service of retired teachers to the state’s education sector.
