Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday announced plans to construct 6,500 Km of roads in the upcoming financial year, marking the first phase of a larger three-year infrastructure push targeting 15,000 Km of new roads across the state.
Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan revealed the roadmap after a high-level review meeting with department officials, estimating the total investment at over Rs 2 lakh crore.
Harichandan also informed that the Odisha State Highways Authority Bill-2025 will be introduced in the Odisha Legislative Assembly within the next 2-3 days, establishing a dedicated framework for road development.
“Our three-year target includes 15,000 Km of road connectivity with an expenditure exceeding Rs 2 lakh crore. The Odisha State Highways Authority Bill will be tabled shortly to streamline this mission,” the Minister stated.
