Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has hiked the spending on uniforms and shoes for Anganwadi children under the Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana.
The move aims to provide better quality uniforms to kids attending Anganwadi centres statewide.
As per the decision, boys’ uniform cost has been bumped up from Rs 100 to Rs 175, while girls’ uniforms have gone up to Rs 225 from Rs 150. Besides, shoes and sweaters are also getting a boost, with the cost going from Rs 100 to Rs 150 and Rs 150 to Rs 200 respectively.
The revision has been made considering the increased cost of fabric, sewing charges, and transportation costs, aiming to maintain the quality of uniforms and other materials provided to children.
The revised rates will be effective from the financial year 2026-27. This will benefit over 14.76 lakh pre-school children enrolled in 74,224 Anganwadi centres across the state. The state government will bear the additional expenditure, said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
