Bhubaneswar: In view of rising temperatures, Odisha government has introduced ‘water Bell’ system in all schools across the State.
The move is intended to ensure that students stay adequately hydrated during class hours.
The School and Mass Education department has written to the Block Education Officers (BEOs) and District Education Officer (DEOs) to make it mandatory in all schools across the State.
The system works on ringing the school-bell thrice in a day at 8.30 AM, 10 AM and 11 AM in order to prompt students to drink water.
Teachers will ensure that students drink water on time. Moreover, they also advised the students to use umbrellas and caps while communicating with the school.
The introduction of the water-bell system aims to keep students hydrated and prevent heat-related ailments.
Due to heat-wave conditions, the weather department has cautioned people to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent sunstroke.
