Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is exploring the establishment of new Agriculture and Allied Science Colleges across the state to strengthen education and research in the farming sector.
A high-level meeting on the proposal was held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Monday, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.
The discussions focused on identifying potential locations for the proposed institutions, which aim to enhance productivity, promote sustainable practices, and develop profitable farming systems in agriculture and allied sectors.
As part of the government’s manifesto promise, the proposal for setting up a second Agriculture University in Sambalpur was also taken up during the meeting.
Senior officials, including Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Principal Secretary of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Suresh Kumar Vashishth, and OUAT Vice Chancellor Prof. Pravat Kumar Raul, participated in the deliberations and shared key inputs on the proposal.
