Bhubaneswar: In the latest development, the Odisha government has announced the members of the high-level committee formed to investigate widespread printing mistakes in textbooks from Class I to Class VIII.
Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee. The other two members are Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, and Smita Pani, Deputy Secretary of the General Administration Department.
The committee was constituted following the directions of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. It has been tasked with conducting a detailed probe into the printing errors, identifying the level at which the lapses occurred, and determining the officials or agencies responsible. The panel has been asked to submit its report within seven days.
The move comes after Chief Minister Majhi expressed strong displeasure during a review meeting on Wednesday over the defects that have been causing significant difficulties for students in their studies. He had ordered immediate corrective action and strict measures against those found guilty.
