Bhubaneswar: In a major step to make darshan at Puri the Jagannath Temple smoother and more convenient for devotees, the Odisha government is planning to introduce a slot booking system for viewing Lord Jagannath and the sibling deities.
Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan informed that the temple administration is actively working on implementing an online slot booking mechanism. This system will allow devotees to book a specific time slot in advance and have a hassle-free darshan of Mahaprabhu.
“Both the existing queue-based darshan system and the new slot booking system will run simultaneously. Devotees who book slots will be able to have darshan at their designated time from a separate holding area. This will significantly reduce waiting time and crowding inside the temple”, he said.
The Minister further stated that the slot booking facility will initially be introduced on a pilot or experimental basis. Discussions have already been held with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). A final decision on implementing the system will be taken after due deliberation in the Temple Managing Committee.
Besides, the Law Minister informed that Nata Mandap will be air-conditioned and the tender process for the same has begun.
