Bhubaneswar: Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee has directed all District Collectors to identify five acres of suitable government land on priority for construction of schools under the Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Prathamika Vidyalaya (GMAPV) scheme.
In a letter to Collectors, Dr. Padhee asked them to hand over the identified land to the School and Mass Education Department at the earliest. The GMAPV scheme is a flagship programme of the State Government aimed at providing quality education at the Gram Panchayat level.
Under the first phase, 118 schools were selected and the state-level foundation stone laying programme was held on January 7, 2026. In the second phase, the Government has approved 212 more schools.
Other Gram Panchayats will also be covered in subsequent phases under the scheme. Officials said that in coordination with field officers of the School and Mass Education Department, five acres of suitable government land is being identified for each school.
The competent authority of the School and Mass Education Department has already submitted the necessary acquisition forms. Immediate steps are being taken to transfer the identified land to the department for early commencement of construction.
