Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has revised and increased the daily diet rates for in-patients at all government hospitals to ensure better quality meals and nutrition, keeping in view current market prices.
According to a statement from the Health and Family Welfare Department, the revised rates come into effect immediately, replacing the earlier rates fixed through a resolution issued on August 3, 2023.
Under the new structure, the general diet rate has been raised from ₹110 to ₹127, while the paediatric diet has increased from ₹95 to ₹110. The high-protein diet has been revised from ₹120 to ₹138, the dry diet from ₹95 to ₹110, and the liquid diet from ₹110 to ₹127.
The department has directed all government medical institutions to ensure that the food provided to patients is nutritious, hygienic, and properly served, reinforcing the state’s focus on patient welfare and healthcare quality.
Officials said the revision is aimed at improving the nutritional intake and overall recovery environment for patients admitted to state-run hospitals across Odisha.
