Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed officials to assess the damage caused by floods and submit detailed reports within three days, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik said on Saturday.

The minister said field-level officials, including Block Development Officers (BDOs), Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) and Revenue Inspectors (RIs), have been assigned to conduct a detailed assessment of damage to roads, houses and other infrastructure in flood-affected areas.

“Officials have been instructed to assess the situation on the ground and submit reports within three days. Based on these reports, necessary steps will be taken to provide assistance to the affected people,” Naik told reporters.

He said the government is prioritising people whose houses have been completely damaged and those living in areas where road connectivity has been disrupted due to the floods.

“Wherever roads have been damaged or other problems have emerged, immediate measures are being taken. The officials will submit accurate reports after a proper assessment of the losses,” the minister said.

Naik said the state government has activated its machinery to provide relief and support to people affected by the flood situation. He added that the Chief Minister has directed all departments to work in coordination and extend assistance to affected families.

“The government is working round the clock to help people affected by the floods. All departments have been instructed to remain alert and ensure timely support,” he said.

On drinking water supply in flood-hit areas, Naik said arrangements have been made through water tankers and mobile water vans to meet the requirements of people in affected regions.

He assured that restoration work and relief measures would be taken up after receiving the assessment reports.

“The government is ready to serve the people, and all departments are working towards providing assistance to those affected by the floods,” Naik said.
