Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today suspended an officer of the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) as a disciplinary proceeding is being contemplated against him.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department vide an order issued today placed OAS officer Bibekananda Parida, ex- Tahasildar, Begunia presently serving as Deputy Collector (Revenue) in the office of the Sub-Collector, Cuttack under suspension with immediate effect as disciplinary proceeding is being contemplated against him.
The order said that during the period of suspension Parida’s headquarters has been fixed at office of the Sub-Collector, Cuttack.
He shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the Sub-Collector, Cuttack and he is entitled to get payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with rule-90 of the Odisha Service Code.
According to reports, while Parida was the Tahasildar of Begunia he was asked to conduct an inquiry into the alleged fraudulent Sarua land deal of Odisha Infratec Pvt Ltd (OIPL), a sister concern of Odisha Television Ltd.
Parida had allegedly not conducted the inquiry properly and by misusing his official capacity had given a clean chit to the promoters of OIPL.
He has been suspended following allegations of misuse of official capacity against him, reports added.
