Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to construct a state-of-the-art disaster management building in Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Tuesday.

The proposed facility will be constructed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited (OB&CC), and the government has set a target to complete the project within one-and-a-half years, the minister said while briefing the media.

The foundation stone for the project is likely to be laid in September 2026. The new building is expected to strengthen the state’s disaster management infrastructure and provide modern facilities for planning, coordination, and emergency response.

Along with the disaster management building, the government is also planning to develop a modern auditorium at the Revenue Officers’ Training Institute (ROTI) in Bhubaneswar. The auditorium project has been allocated Rs 90 crore and will include advanced facilities and other essential infrastructure, Pujari said.

The minister also announced plans to construct new circuit houses in Bhubaneswar and Puri. A new circuit house will be developed within the existing Special Circuit House campus in Puri, considering the city’s status as a major tourist destination and the growing demand for accommodation facilities.

In Bhubaneswar, the government is planning another circuit house as the existing facility frequently remains occupied due to increasing demand. Since the current campus has limited space, the Works Department will identify a suitable location for the proposed facility, following which the construction process will be initiated.

The proposed projects are part of the state government’s broader plan to upgrade administrative infrastructure and improve public facilities at key locations across Odisha.
