Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will soon issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for conducting a detailed inventory of ornaments and other valuables stored at the Ratna Bhandar (Treasury) of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said on Sunday.
“The state government has initiated the process for the inventory at the Puri Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar. The exercise will be conducted inside the Ratna Bhandar itself. A standard operating procedure for this purpose will be issued shortly,” the Law Minister told reporters.
Harichandan said the inventory had been delayed due to the heavy influx of devotees during the holy month of Kartika.
“The government will expedite the process after Kartika concludes on November 5,” he added.
The inventory is aimed at ensuring proper documentation and accountability of the temple’s treasures, which include gold and silver ornaments, precious stones, and other historic valuables.
