Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to empower women entrepreneurs, the Odisha government has announced plans to provide interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh to Lakhpati Didis across the state.
This announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday.
“Today, I held discussions with the concerned departments on how Lakhpati Didis can avail themselves of Rs 10 lakh interest-free loans. This initiative will enable women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods,” said Deputy Chief Minister Parida while speaking to reporters.
She further elaborated on the government’s vision to transform Lakhpati Didis into Crorepati Didis.
“To achieve this, we will provide greater exposure, promotional support, financial incentives, and foster collaboration between banks and SHGs to boost product marketing,” Parida added.
She expressed confidence that, with these initiatives, many women would be able to achieve this transformation within a year.
This step by the Odisha government aims to further strengthen women’s economic empowerment and promote inclusive growth across the state.
