Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to run buses to pilgrimage destinations across the country.
“Bus services will be also launched for pilgrimage destinations like Ayodhya, Tirupati, Mahakaleswar, Varanasi, Vrindavan,” informed Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena to reporters.
Jena revealed this while briefing reporters after attending a review meeting on the performance of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC). These special buses from major cities including Puri, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Rourkela soon, he added.
To facilitate transport of devotees from across the State to Puri on the occasion of Rath Yatra buses will ply from every block.
“During Rath Yatra buses will ply to Puri from every block,” said Jena.
He said the government would provide bus services in those places of the State where there is no bus connectivity.
On being asked whether the new government will continue with the LAccMI Scheme, the Minister remarked that the name of the scheme is not important so long as people get bus services for their daily communication in all areas of the State. “We are examining the scheme,” he added.
