Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government plans to establish cold storage facilities in every block of the state, as announced by the Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Krushna Chandra Patra, on Monday.
Speaking to the media, the minister stated that we are working to do more for farmers, particularly in areas lacking marketplaces or mandis, where new ones will be established soon.
“In areas where mandis do not exist, we are working to establish them so that farmers can sell their agricultural products. We also aim to provide a safe way for farmers to store their extra products, with cold storage facilities planned for every block of the state. We are working to make this happen as soon as possible,” the minister said.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their goods.
He also mentioned that steps are being taken to increase potato production in the state this year.
“The state government is taking appropriate steps and the impact will be visible within the next one to two years,” he added.
