Odisha Govt Withdraws Controversial MLA Salary Hike Bill Amidst Public Outcry

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated the process of withdrawing the Bill to increase the salary, allowances, and pension of MLAs.

Odisha Assembly Secretary has written to MLAs about withdrawal of Salary Hike Bill following Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling’s notice.

The Bill, passed last year, proposed significant salary hikes for MLAs, ministers, and the Chief Minister, sparking widespread criticism

The Bill was criticized for being excessive compared to other states. All parties requested the government to withdraw it, prompting this move.
