Greater Noida: Odisha’s traditional handlooms and handicrafts have attracted considerable interest from domestic and international buyers at the 62nd IHGF Delhi Autumn Fair 2026, being held at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.
The Odisha Pavilion, set up by the state’s Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department, was inaugurated on Tuesday by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, who toured the exhibits and appreciated the diversity of products on display.
The pavilion showcases Odisha’s traditional crafts, including Pattachitra paintings, terracotta, stone carvings, Pipili appliqué, seashell crafts, Sabai grass products and Dhokra metalwork. Its handloom collection features Sambalpuri textiles, Odisha Ikat, Bomkai, Khandua silk, Kotpad, Gopalpur Tussar, Habaspuri and Karuna silk sarees. Several of these traditional products have received Geographical Indication (GI) recognition.
Contemporary products made from handloom fabrics, including laptop bags, bedsheets, jackets, files, purses and home décor items, are also on display. Live demonstrations of silk yarn preparation are providing visitors with an insight into traditional textile-making techniques.
The department said the exhibits had generated interest among visitors and business representatives, with buyers exploring products and placing orders with artisans for future business.
Speaking at the inauguration, Tapas Kumar said the fair offered an important platform to showcase Odisha’s artistic heritage and traditional craftsmanship to national and international markets. It would help connect weavers and artisans with buyers, designers and business organisations, opening up new market and export opportunities, she said.
The fair, which runs from October 13 to 17, features products spanning home and lifestyle, fashion, furnishings, furniture, gifts and interiors.
The inauguration was attended by Additional Resident Commissioner in New Delhi Sucharita Sarangi, India Expo Centre and Mart Executive Director and CEO Sudip Samarendra Sarkar, FICCI Additional Director Braja Kishore Nayak, Odisha Additional Director of Sericulture and Resham Odisha Managing Director Surya Narayan Pattnaik, and other senior departmental officials.
