He also warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in the black marketing and illegal trading of fertilisers.
Speaking to reporters, Samanta said the state had already received a substantial quantity of fertiliser and that the government had ensured its proper distribution among farmers.
“Fertiliser availability in the state is sufficient. As of July 17, 2026, the Cooperation Department has received 1,81,810 tonnes of fertiliser,” he said.
The minister said the fertiliser requirement for the state this year would be procured by the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department. As per the government’s decision, 60% of the procured fertiliser would be supplied to the Cooperation Department for distribution through the cooperative network.
“Out of the 1,81,810 tonnes of fertiliser received, the entire stock has been dispatched, and 1,14,874 tonnes have already been distributed among farmers. Around 1.60 lakh to 1.62 lakh tonnes of fertiliser are currently available in storage,” Samanta said.
He assured that the state would not face any fertiliser crisis this year and said the government was closely monitoring the supply situation to ensure timely availability of fertiliser to farmers.
“The state government is aware of the situation, and all necessary arrangements have been made. There will be no problem regarding fertiliser supply this year,” the minister said.
Samanta further said that instructions had been issued to all concerned agencies to prevent black marketing and hoarding of fertiliser. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in such illegal activities.
“All agencies have been instructed not to indulge in black marketing. If anyone is found involved, the government will take stringent action against them. The department is keeping a close watch on the situation, and I have personally reviewed the matter as well,” he added.
