Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on Thursday adjourned the proceedings of the House till 4.00 pm following pandemonium by opposition BJD legislators who alleged that all development works have been stopped in 314 blocks of the state.
After the Question Hour ended BJD MLAs Arun Sahu and Ganeshwar Behera raised the issue of development works in the state. They alleged that all development works have been stopped in 314 blocks and demanded that the government answer who had given the instruction in this regard. They brought adjournment notices in the House over the issue but the Speaker refused to accept them. This led to chaos and ruckus in the House and the BJD legislators staged protests in front of the Speaker’s podium.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling requested the Opposition members to withdraw their protest and go to their respective seats. As the protesting MLAs refused to budge, the Speaker adjourned the House till 4.00 pm today.
