Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, on Monday outlined elaborate preparations for the upcoming High School Certificate (HSC) examination, scheduled to begin from February 19, with a strong emphasis on security, surveillance, and real-time monitoring.
Addressing a press conference here, BSE President Srikanta Tarai said the process of dispatching question papers will commence from Tuesday. This year’s HSC examination will be conducted across 3,082 centres in the state, supported by 322 nodal centres set up exclusively for the secure storage of question papers.
According to the Board, as many as 5,61,979 students have filled up forms for the HSC examination. To curb malpractice and ensure transparency, CCTV cameras have been installed in all examination centres, while the entire examination process will be monitored from the Board’s command and control room.
Tarai said advanced technological safeguards have been put in place, including QR-coded and watermarked question papers, enabling the Board to track their movement and location. “Through live CCTV surveillance and QR-coded question papers, we will strictly monitor all nodal and examination centres without any deviation,” he said.
Tarai added that special arrangements have been made for five geographically distant districts—Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh—where monitoring will be carried out through live CCTV feeds. Footage from nodal centres will be transmitted to examination centres through an approved and secured network path.
The State Open School Certificate Examination will also be held within an 11-day schedule, with examinations conducted daily from 9 am to 11.30 am, the Board informed.
For the convenience of students, examination centres have been allotted within a distance of three to ten kilometres from their residences, Tarai said.
With layered security arrangements, real-time surveillance, and strict protocols in place, the BSE aims to conduct a smooth, transparent, and malpractice-free HSC examination across Odisha.
