Bhubaneswar: The family of late homeguard Pradeep Kumar Martha received financial assistance of Rs 6.55 lakh, contributed by IPS officers of Odisha, at a function held at the Operation Headquarters here on Monday.
Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda handed over the cheque to Martha’s wife Urmila Martha. IG (Operations) Deepak Kumar was also present on the occasion.
Martha was serving at the IPS Mess in Bhubaneswar. He passed away on April 24, 2026 while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. This is part of continued support extended by Odisha Police to Martha’s family.
Earlier, Urmila Martha was given an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on June 17, 2026.
Besides, LC Amarnathan, President of the Retired IPS Officers’ Association, also handed over a cheque of Rs 1.12 lakh on June 18, 2026.
In addition, Urmila Martha has been appointed as a homeguard in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate on August 15, 2026.
Odisha Police said the assistance to the bereaved family reflects not just financial support, but also the department’s sense of duty, humanity and solidarity during difficult times.
Officials added that the gesture will help boost the morale of the family and support them in building a secure future.
