Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is likely to bring an interim budget for three months instead of a full-fledged budget in view of the forthcoming panchayat, municipal, and corporation polls in the State.
While making it abundantly clear that placing budget before the House is the prerogative of the Finance Minister, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro stated that the government could bring an interim budget for three in view of the upcoming rural and urban polls.
Patro clarified that there are no clear-cut instructions either from the office of the Governor or from the State government to the State Assembly with regard to holding the budget session.
“Generally, budget is normally moved in the month of March. It has not been decided whether it will be a full-fledged budget or a temporary (interim) budget. There is the precedent of bringing an interim budget for three months,” said Patro.
